Um, the reverse peace sign is also used as an angry hand expression. Maybe not common in the US, but I know it is in at least the UK and Australia. Alaska isn't exactly part of the mainland US culture, so it's possible they use that hand gesture in a negative way also. It would match her facial expression more than a peace sign, and I am not sure how often her Republican parents go around flashing the peace sign to people.
