I usually hate posting on such pages, but in this case I feel it is good to make an exception. twistaspliff, what you are saying might be correct. What the movie proposes, too, although. The whole point is that it does not matter, at all (for why, see rexblade's comment, mostly). Much more important is if _you_ want a positive change either know a better solution (and, I will be very welcome to hear it!) or, if you think this might help _you_ live _your_ life better - there is no need whatsoever in "the others" to do what the movie proposes: as you might have guessed from rexblade already, scientifically speaking there is no alternative: in 100 years there will be no human society, either by war, or by environmental breakdown (if you do not belive me, maybe you belive a source such as the United Nations - check the 4th Global Environment Outlook). So, what I really want to say is, this is up to you and your very personal decision to keep destroying the world like most of humanity currently does or finally lift your greedy, profit-oriented bottom up to make a transition to a better world. Just as BrapAllgood said, you're free to make any decision, and I give a damn about how you decide; but any decision, and that includes the decision to do nothing, has its consequences. If it's like my campus, you need to drive to get to do anything fun, and stuff is so expensive on campus that it really pays to get supplies off campus. Also, I don't feel safe biking or walking in the neighborhoods just outside of campus.

The people who only tune in briefly to hear her speak will probably be inspired by folksy and charismatic talk. Linguistically, she does a good job at-- gosh darn it-- makin' ya like her! *wink* Her use of breathy voice and "ya" all the time sort of does it. That doesn't mean what she's saying is necessarily a well structured argument based on the facts, but, you can gussy any moos-- message up to seem charming and cute if you do it the right way.
