The veil is oppressive. It ought to be banned everywhere, not just in the UK and US. All manner of foolishness is "justified" under claims of religious dogma. That doesn't make any of it right. Nor does it even mean a particular practice is integral to the religion, As the article states, "the Qur'an says: 'Allah has given you clothes to cover your shameful parts'". There is no way that statement can be twisted to say the whole female body is shameful from head to toe.
