I'm going to fault the studios here more than Moore himself, though I feel Moore should have kept the rights to the movie, it wouldn't have been as big an issue. The studios and him seem to have different intrepretations of how the movie should be distributed. In the future Moore, good idea but keep the rights and handle it yourself. It's more hassle and work for sure, and riskier on your pocketbook, but you'll be able to make plans like this work out better in the long run.
