I would like to add "immediately turning your key to start the engine." I always follow the procedure of inserting the key, turning the key to the furthest position before igntion. You will hear the fuel pump come on and then turn off, and your dashboard lights will all come on and then turn off (this is a diagnostic procedure.) After all of the lights go out, THEN you start your car.
That is not the only answer. First off, it's been a lot longer than 25 years. And no, debt does not always have to be paid for, because we cannot in fact ever pay off all of our debt in our current system. A good answer would be to stop fractional reserve banking, abolish the Federal Reserve and put an end to corporatocracy which enables perpetual debt in the first place. Completely boycott the system, from TV to banks to the political process, everything. Then start over from scratch. Every single dollar in circulation is a dollar someone owes to somebody, that's why they're called notes. Money is debt and debt is money. You CAN'T pay off all of our debts without eliminating our currency from circulation, and even if you did there would be debt left over because interest is applied at the conception of money. When money is created and loaned interest is applied to it, and money can only be created as debt, therefore there is never enough money in circulation to cover all debts owed because the money to cover the interest is NOT created, just applied. That means that foreclosures are literally inevitable, no matter what anyone does in our current system or how hard you work, it's mathematically impossible to not have foreclosure or bankruptcies. It's what to do after starting over from scratch and getting rid of this ridiculous system that is strangling us right under our noses is where the ideas need to be heavily waded through and well thought out. Not what to do about it now.

Agreed, brianpipa. I've had some pretty close calls. Once I came close to mounting a curb and another time I almost slammed into a car coming towards a red light.
Some of us think about how ***** pointless it is to race bicycles for a living instead of that jackass.
