I disagree with you. A quality game could have a shelf life that could last several years, even longer if the manufacture supports and embarrasses its mod community. StarCraft, which is written in 1998, is still being sold retail.
I'm not sure why you think that would make it easier for people to switch... in any case. I use both terms depending on who I'm speaking to and what I'm speaking about. Linux to non users or beginners who don't really care and Gnu/Linux if I need to differentiate it from the kernel for some reason. Justifiable enough if you ask me.
In 2009 we'll see the CELL processor be cut down to a 45nm process that's more efficient and cheaper to produce. Expect a price cut and then factor in all the games that will be available by then like LittleBigPlanet. 2009 will be huge for the PS3.
